Basically it is composed of thin corrugated stainless steel plates brazed with copper to form a self-contained unit. No pressure-retaining parts such as the shell of a shell-and-tube construction or the frame of a plate-and-frame heat exchanger. These features in combination with high efficiency make this construction the most efficient heat exchangers within its operating limits.
